The Defence Research and development Organisation (DRDO) is now planning a nation programme on directed energy weapons (DEWs) like high-energy lasers and high-powered microwaves, which are increasingly being considered crucial around the world for the contactless conflicts of the future.
The national programme will have short, medium and long-term goals, with the eventual aim being to develop different DEW variants of up to 100 kilowatt power, in collaboration with the domestic industry, sources said.
The DRDO has been working on several DEW projects for long, ranging from ‘chemical oxygen iodine’ and ‘high-power fibre’ lasers to a secretive ‘Kali’ particle-beam weapon for ‘soft-kills’ against incoming missiles and aircraft. ( Source: TOI)
INDIA ON 30 September successfully tested the extended range BRAHMOS Supersonic cruise missile which has emerged as a primary precision strike conventional weapon for armed forces at a test range in Odisha. This missile can strike target over 400Kms away with pinpoint accuracy.
Senior officials from India and China held the 19th Working Mechanism For Consultation and Coordination on India- China border affairs meeting (WMCC) 30th September 20 there two sides agreed to sincerely implement the agreement reached between the two Foreign Ministers. The two sides attached important to the meeting between the two defence ministers and the two FMs earlier this month. The both sides noted that the agreement between the two FMS should be sincerely implemented to ensure disengagement at all friction points along LAC. The need to strength communication especially between ground commanders was emphasized by both sides.
